Latest launch information:9th October 2021
Swanage’s all weather lifeboat was tasked on Saturday evening to assist a 34’ yacht in difficulties 12Nm South of Swanage. The yacht’s engine had failed and with no wind the yacht was being swept West with the last of the ebb tide. The yacht’s skipper had requested assistance but with no other vessels in the area able to assist the lifeboat was requested to launch. The Swanage volunteers were soon on their way heading to the yacht’s last known position. Just under 30 minutes later the lifeboat arrived on scene, a crew member was put aboard and the yacht taken in tow back to Swanage. Once safely back in Swanage Bay the yacht was secured to the RNLI mooring and the lifeboat was recovered to its slipway.
