12th January 2021Summary
Swanage’s D Class inshore lifeboat (ILB) was tasked this evening to assist Dorset Police and the volunteers from Swanage Coastguard with a search for a missing person thought to be in the area of the main beach, Swanage. The ILB launched and was given its search instructions. No sooner had the search instructions been passed the missing person was located by police.With the situation resolved the ILB was released to return to station to be washed down, santitised and made ready for the next service.

About Us
Swanage Lifeboat Station is one of over 230 RNLI lifeboat stations around the coast of the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The RNLI is a charity and relies on voluntary contributions from the public to keep its lifeboats at sea. At Swanage we have two lifeboats, an All Weather ‘Shannon’ class lifeboat and a ‘D-Class’ inshore lifeboat. We have a volunteer crew comprising 30 sea going crew and four shore crew who launch and recover the boats.
