13th September 2020Summary
Swanage’s all weather lifeboat (ALB) was tasked on Sunday evening to assist Weymouth lifeboat with the recovery of a fishing boat 2Nm SE of Portland Bill. The ALB launched and arrived on scene 40 minutes later. Two crew members were put aboard to assess the boat and formulate a plan to recover it. The fishing boat’s nets were lowered, cut and buoyed allowing the boat to move freely. The boat was then motored to Weymouth harbour where it was put in to its berth. The Swanage volunteers were then free to return to Swanage arriving on their slipway just after 3am.
