Latest launch information:31st July 2020
The all-weather lifeboat (ALB) was called to a yacht with engine failure in Durlston Bay, drifting towards Durlston Head. The yacht had made a distress call (‘Mayday’) via VHF and two passing leisure boats had responded and were standing by the yacht, advising it to anchor.
The Shannon class lifeboat found the yacht quite close inshore in the bay and a tow was quickly established. The yacht was taken to Poole Town Quay Marina where it would be able to remain sheltered and get some engineering help.
The ALB was released to return to station and was nearing the slipway when it received a further tasking.
