We are sad to report that our long standing President and lifelong RNLI supporter Gloria Marsh passed away this weekend.

Our thoughts are with Gloria’s family and friends. Gloria’s late husband Victor Marsh was the former Coxswain of the Swanage lifeboat, serving 37 years as a volunteer with the RNLI, always with Gloria by his side. It was remarked in many of the rescue write ups that Gloria would be at the station to provide refreshments for the crew when they arrived back from rescues, often in the early hours of the morning. Gloria’s son-in-law Martin Steeden was also a former Coxswain of the Swanage lifeboat serving over 40 years on the crew, and her grandsons Gavin and Matt serve on the crew today. After the passing of Victor, Gloria continued her strong affiliation with the RNLI and was elected President of the Swanage RNLI in 2009, a role she held to the present day.
